The alkaline battery lasts about 22 hours (2.2Ah at 0.1A), half the time is has higher voltage than the NiMH batteries, the rest of the time lower. Increasing the current a bit and alkaline is not a clear winner anymore. for equipment that can run a week or more continuous on a battery.Īt this low current alkaline works really well, it has the highest voltage and most capacity The batteries cannot be charged on any normal charger, but requires a special charger, for these cells that means a Kentli charger, but there is also usb rechargeable cells around (There is a micro usb connector on the cell).ĭue to the electronic these batteries will also have some extra self discharge.įirst curve is with very low current, i.e. LiIon are usual rated 3.6 or 3.7 volt, this is not really fit for AA replacement, but some manufacturers have added electronic to bring the voltage down. These batteries have been around for some time, but are not very popular, this may have to do with their rather short lifespan in typical AA applications. These batteries are rated with 1.6 volt, energy (not capacity) is marked on the cell and is around 2500mWh (The reason for using mWh instead of mAh is probably because the mAh is rather low). The shelf life it not rated for rechargeable, but depending on type they can retain charge from a few weeks to a couple of years. These batteries are rated with 1.2 volt, capacity is marked on the cell and is usual in the 2000mAh to 2700mAh range.Īccording to Sanyo the battery will work down to 0☌, but with reduced capacity. The lithium batteries compared here is lithium-iron (Li-FeS2) batteries, there does also exist lithium batteries with 3 volt, they are usual sold in other sizes (CR123, CR2), but can also be found in AA size, but cannot be used instead of ordinary AA batteries. Unloaded voltage will be around 1.8 volt. These batteries are rated with 1.5 volt and has around 3000mAh.Īccording to Energizer the battery will work down to -40☌, but with reduced capacity. Today they are very rare, because they have been replaced by alkaline batteries, that has considerable better performance.Įnergizer has a datasheet with specifications and their AA has about 2900mAh at 25mA load, but only about 1400mA at 500mA load.Īccording to Energizer the Alkaline battery will work down to -18☌, but with reduced capacity.Īlkaline batteries is also known to leak and destroy equipment, even unused cells can leak. They are rated for a 36 months self life and can be used from -10☌ to 50☌. The Varta datasheet for these batteries specifies 1000mAh when discharge at unspecified low current. These batteries are rated 1.5 volt, their actual capacity is seldom specified, because it varies with load. Some of the other names used for the AA cell size is: penlight, mingon, MN1500, M IEC uses R6 for the AA battery size and then places a letter before, depending on chemistry, the most common are: LR6=Alkaline AA, FR6=Lithium AA, HR6=NiMH AAĪNSI uses 15A for alkaline AA, 15LF for lithium AA and 1.2H2 for NiMH AA. The AA battery has been around a long time and during that time many different names has been used, both from manufacturers and from standard organizations. The standard size of AA batteries is up to 50.5 mm long (including plus pole) and 14.5 mm in diameter, this was standardized in 1947 by IEC (but the battery was in use long before that). not rechargeable, NiMH,NiZn and LiIon is rechargeable. Zinc-carbon, alkaline and Lithium are primary batteries, i.e. In this article I will look at some different AA battery chemistries: zinc-carbon, Alkaline, Lithium, NiMH, NiZn, LiIon. IoT Mobile Security System Launches in 30 Minutes I can’t tell you the number of unsolicited calls we get from people in a Walmart parking lot asking how they can get one to monitor a solar farm, a landscaping business, or other business.” “We took it to a trade show, and the first people in the booth were from Walmart,” Gale says. The trailer transmits data via a cellular network and is solar-powered. When companies began asking for more sophisticated systems, LVT designed a fully contained, standalone trailer with a 30-foot boom to hang IoT devices depending on a company’s needs. Soon, state transportation departments asked for similar systems to monitor snowfall in various mountain ranges. This plant may not be hardy in our region, and certain restrictions may apply. This species is not originally from North America. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. It is particular about its soil conditions, with a strong preference for clay, alkaline soils, and is able to handle environmental salt. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for a low-water garden or xeriscape application. It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and will often die in standing water. This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 15 years. It tends to fill out right to the ground and therefore doesn't necessarily require facer plants in front. Shrub Broom will grow to be about 3 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 3 feet. Shrub Broom is recommended for the following landscape applications It has no significant negative characteristics. Deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. This is a high maintenance shrub that will require regular care and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage. Shrub Broom is an open multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a more or less rounded form. The lime green stems can be quite attractive. The small compound leaves do not develop any appreciable fall colour. Shrub Broom is clothed in stunning spikes of gold pea-like flowers rising above the foliage from late summer to early fall. Spanish Broom Seeds (Spartium junceum) Packet of 20 Seeds. Price and other details may vary based on product size and color. Monument to the Battle of Sutjeska, image © MoMA. Then I thought about my mom and how bummed out she’d be if I killed myself. I realized I could never find a spot far enough off the path where there wasn’t some chance a little kid out for a hike, or a young couple looking for a make-out spot, or an old man with a picnic basket and a picture of his late wife, might find me. My plan was to carry that rope out as far away from people as I could, find a sturdy tree, and do the deed.īut when I stepped out of my car I saw some kids playing in the field right near the parking lot. I put a bunch of rope in the trunk of my car and drove out to the Gorge Metro Park, just down the street from where I lived. I felt like all I had to look forward to was eking out a meager existence in the muddy Midwest. My dreams of making a living as a songwriter and musician were obviously never going to come true. I’d released five records on an indie label that had gotten some good press but gone nowhere in terms of sales. I was living in a decrepit punk rock house in Akron, Ohio. I came precariously close to killing myself one sunny day in the spring of 1992. If you’d have asked me before that spring day in 1992, I would have told you it was absolutely impossible for me to do any of the things I’ve done since that day. Discussing what sort of next life the person is likely to have isn’t supportive, I’d say. It’s more important just to be supportive. It’s a way to avoid the real question: What do we do when faced with the fact that someone we cared about has killed himself? No one ever knows the right thing to do or say when something like this happens. When dealing with someone’s suicide, vague speculations about rebirth don’t really help. For those who believe in rebirth, the entirety of the person’s life determines how he or she will be reborn, not just the last thing the person does. Even if we really do get reborn after we die, how can anyone say what sort of next life a person is likely to have, knowing only the fact that the person killed himself? There’s a lot more to any individual’s life than just how it ends. I take all that stuff about rebirth with a big grain of salt, myself. This is because committing suicide causes so much pain and suffering to those who know and love the person who does it. It’s not believed that one is condemned to Hell forever for killing oneself, the way the Catholic tradition has it, but one is setting up conditions that will make one’s next birth more difficult than the life one chooses to end prematurely. Suicide is generally frowned upon by Buddhists as something to be avoided because it tends to lead to a less auspicious rebirth. The very prominent suicides by self-immolation that have been carried out by certain Buddhists in Vietnam, Tibet, and elsewhere have led some people to the conclusion that Buddhism sees suicide as a noble act. That I don’t have a ready answer to the question tells you that these are not hot issues for Buddhists in the Zen tradition. It just wouldn’t happen, because these are very hot issues for Catholics. Imagine a person who had studied and practiced Catholicism for nearly thirty years not knowing what the Church’s position on suicide or abortion was. I gave the same answer I give when I’m asked about the Buddhist view on abortion: I don’t really know. That led people to ask me-not for the first time-what the Buddhist view on suicide is. And they were pretty sad when he killed himself last year. I didn’t really know Tyler, but a lot of my friends did. Zen teacher Brad Warner on the time he considered suicide-and the different kind of death he chose. |
